Dr. Bill Godwin, or Pastor Bill, has been an ordained American pastor since 1973. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Azusa Pacific University, him Master of Divinity degree from the American Baptist Seminary of the West and his Doctor of Ministry degree from the American Baptist Seminary of the West. He is married to Caren, has tree sons and nine grandchildren.
Pastor Bill became a Christian while attending a Christian winter camp as a sophomore in high school. He felt "called" to the ministry two years later. He was praying The Lord's Prayer and couldn't get past the part: "thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." Three times he was stopped at that point of prayer. He asked the Lord: are you trying to tell me something?'Pastor Bill felt the Lord communicate to him: "what better way to help the kingdom of God to come to earth, as it is in heaven, than by becoming a pastor?' Pastor Bill followed through with the "call" and has devoted his life to that purpose.
Pastor Bill believes that there is no more rewarding profession than Christian ministry. He feels that the pastoral ministry gives him wonderful opportunities to help others. The blessings that come his way are numerous: to be able to preach and teach God's Word, to counsel people of all ages, to visit those in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, etc., to help people to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior, to be involved in spiritual growth of people of all ages, to be the one to baptize new Christians, to be honored enough to officiate at weddings and funerals, to disciple Christians (through the Agape Process, the Bethel Series and other discipleship programs), to lead church co-ed volleyball and guys church basketball leagues, to be involved in community, national and international missions outreaches, and to visit and encourage people of all ages are precious to Pastor Bill.
He wants all to know he is available for them, 24/7, and cares about them. He considers it a privilege to serve the Lord as the pastor of our church.
